Five minutes later, the nurse came back into the room. The nurse said to Ben and Angela, “It looks like the baby’s heart rate is still not very strong. I’ve already paged the doctor. He should be here in a few minutes. Please try not to worry.” Ben and Angela didn’t say a word. They were in total shock.

Chapter Three

“Hello. I’m Dr. Robinson. It seems like we have a problem. The baby’s heart rate is not as strong as it should be at this point in the pregnancy. So, let’s see what we can do to make sure you have a healthy baby.” While the doctor was talking, Ben shifted in his chair while Angela bit her nails. “I would like to send you for an ultrasound. How does that sound?” Dr. Robinson asked Angela. “That’s okay, I guess” Angela replied. Ben chimed in and asked the doctor “When will Angela go for the ultrasound and can I go along with her?” “The orderly should be on his way soon to take Angela for the ultrasound. Unfortunately, we usually like for the patient to go alone. I hope that is okay with you.” “Truthfully doctor, I would rather go with her, especially since we are having some complications. However, I will respect the protocol of the hospital and wait here for Angela to come back.” “Thank you for your understanding Mr. Jones. Everything should go fine.”
